Ventricular Fibrillation
Ventricular
Fibrillation is the condition when the heart's electrical activity
is disordered. (The heart beats because of electrical signals
which move through it.)
Fibrillation
happens when the heart's lower chambers (responsible for pumping)
contract in rapid and unsynchronized ways. Too much or too
little blood is pumped by the ventricles which "flutter".
Ventricular Fibrillation is an extremely serious condition and
can lead to collapse and sudden cardiac death within minutes unless
medical help is provided. Treated in time, this condition
can be brought back to normal rhythm by the use of a defibrillator.
A defibrillator is a device that shocks the heart. A cardioverter-defibrillator
is then implanted with a view of controlling the rythms.
The symptoms
- Palpitations
- Light headedness
- Dizziness
- Fainting
- Shortness or breath
